Rogers 5880 is the material choice for high-frequency pcb

Rogers 5880 sheet is a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)-based material with a dielectric constant of 2.2 and is available in thicknesses ranging from 0.003 inches to 0.240 inches. The sheets are available in copper foil thicknesses of 0.5oz, 1oz, 2oz, and 3oz, with finishes of chemical gold plating, chemical silver plating, and chemical tin plating.

The panels offer excellent fire resistance, with a fire rating of UL94 V-0. UL94 is a fire test standard developed by Underwriters Laboratories, and the V-0 rating is the highest level, indicating that the material burns very slowly in the presence of a flame and has an extremely short time to spontaneous combustion. This means that Rogers 5880 panels are effective in slowing the spread of fire in the event of a fire, providing more escape time and protecting equipment.

RT/duroid® 5880 Laminates
Rogers RT/duroid 5880 high-frequency laminates are micro-glass fiber reinforced PTFE composites. RT/duroid 5880 laminates feature a low dielectric constant (Dk) and low loss, making them ideal for high-frequency/broadband applications. Randomly oriented microglass fiber reinforcement gives this PTFE composite excellent Dk uniformity.
Characteristics: Dk 2.20 +/- .02, Df .0009@10GHz, low moisture absorption, isotropic;
Advantages: consistent electrical properties over a wide frequency range, easy to cut, share, and process for molding, good resistance to solutions and reagents used in the process of etching or plating edges as well as over-holes, well suited for high humidity environments, very mature material, very low
Very low electrical losses, glass fiber reinforced PTFE.

RT/duroid® 5880LZ Laminates
Rogers RT/duroid 5880LZ laminates are PTFE composites designed for precision ribbon and microstrip line circuit applications.RT/duroid 5880LZ laminates incorporate a unique filler that creates a low density, lightweight material for high performance and circuit weight sensitive applications.
Characteristics: Dk 2.00 +/- .04, Df .0021~.0027@10 GHz, Z-axis coefficient of thermal expansion 40 ppm/°C, low density of 1.4 gm/cm3;
Advantages: Light weight/low density, consistent electrical characteristics over a wide frequency range, good resistance to a wide range of solutions and reagents (hot and cold) commonly used in etching or plating processes;

Rogers 5880 sheet has excellent high-frequency properties and mechanical properties to meet the requirements of high-frequency circuit boards. The sheet offers better dielectric constant stability, lower losses, better impedance matching and faster signal transmission than other materials. In addition, the mechanical properties of the sheet are good enough to meet the requirements of high strength, high stiffness, good heat resistance and chemical resistance.

Application Field
Widely used in wireless communication, satellite communication, radar, microwave communication and other fields. In these fields, the sheets are used to make circuit boards for high frequency antennas, power amplifiers, filters, couplers, distributors and so on.

Rogers 5880 sheet is an excellent high-frequency circuit board material with excellent high-frequency performance and mechanical properties, which is widely used in wireless communications, satellite communications, radar, microwave communications and other fields. In the future development, this sheet will continue to play its advantages and provide a better material choice for the manufacturing of high frequency circuit boards.
